We came to Audies because it was rated highly and we had had a bad experience with a previous restaurant and just wanted to get something to eat. Once we arrived there we were promptly seated and brought our drinks. The room it's self is a nice well designed room with a good amount of room between each table. We ordered the bison burger and the chicken parmesan. The food it's self was about 11 dollar average and I thought it was a little pricey for what we got until we tried the food. The food was great and not to rich, which is what I was worried about. The amount of food was pretty average and we had a few leftovers after we were done. The service was very nice, all the staff were polite and prompt without being overly friendly or pushy. A nice place to go to, although after seeing some breakfast plates I do recommend the breakfast here although we did not try it.

We have eaten here on several occasions through the years. Dinners have always been great. We had breakfast today and it was fantastic . The pancakes alone are worth the stop. I had the Fishermans Breakfast. It was 2 eggs, hash browns and fresh grilled Whitefish. It was amazing

This was the first time I ever had Walleye fish. The fish is prepared about 10 different ways at Audie's. The salad bar was good and filling. The menu had many choices - all very tempting. Audie's also offers up some great old fashioned cocktails. The Brandy Alexander was over the top good. Wish we were not driving thru or I might of tried out a few more!!! The fish platter I ordered was yummy. Sauted in butter and served up with some veges - I was happy. The fries that came with my wife's Pastrami sandwich evaporated off her plate. The sandwich which she did not eat there, was devoured the next day. The best service I have had in a restaurant for a long long time. The waitress read our minds, but was there but was not....

Friendly staff but a hair in our pancakes and had to send our eggs back twice. Wouldn't come back.

While vacationing I took my family and my sister in law and family here for dinner went to the family dining food int bad is average no views wait staff was average bottom line 120 for seven people eating fish and burgers good for a first night stop not sure if I would recommend past that was expecting more especially in a tourist area

Yuck! The husband and I were driving around looking for dinner and saw that Aduie's had a decent amount of cars in the parking lot so we figured it had to be pretty good. WRONG! Our first impression was the hostess who seemed less than thrilled to have to seat us. Isn't that her job?! Our server was so-so. Didn't really have a whole lot of personality... I guess it was late and towards to end of her shift so I wasn't too angry but being in the service industry this kind of stuff drives me nuts! The food... yuck! We both ordered Italian dishes so I can't judge anything other than that... I had the spaghetti and my husband got the lasagna. Sure the noddles were good.. had that homemade in grandma's kitchen taste but the sauce totally ruined it! It tasted like the stuff out of a can of Chef Boyardee! For $12 I expected a lot more... And the place just looked like a dump!!

I just love this place. The wait staff is so nice, the dinner buffet was fantastic! The food is really good. I had a waitress named Samantha and she was just great! It was a family atmosphere. Will go to this place every year!

This is quite a gem of a place. The whitefish is absolutely delicious, not the best I've ever had, but then again I've tried whitefish at just about every place that has it. Try it with almonds on it, I believe they call it almondine. Plus if they have the triple berry pie you must try that. I've heard from many locals that the breakfast is excellent too.

This was not the place for me. Perhaps it was just an off night but the burgers and drinks were not appetizing and the salad bar had seen better days. I can't comment on the Chippewa room, apparently they have a different menu? I don't recommend.

Well, it's Sunday morning on Mackinac Island and I was just not finding anything on Yelp worthy of good breakfast. After some searching I came across Audie's in the City. It was a tremendous choice. I'm not sure what meal Ed M. had but ours were extremely reasonably priced. I had the whitefish and eggs. It was supposed to come with two eggs, but I ordered them poached and they surprised me with a third. Their Wheat and White bread is homemade as well as their jam as everyone else noted. My companions had French Toast, Pancakes, and a mexican omelet. All great choices. The pancakes were extremely impressive. After a few days over on the overpriced Island, I was very excited to find such a great place for a last meal. Tons of locals inside, and fantastic service. It's always a good sign. Way to go Audie's! I know where I'm eating next time I'm near the bridge! The service was tremendous.

We have eaten here every time we visit Mackinaw City. They have a wonderful buffet on the weekends plus the full menu. The service was great! The prices are reasonable. I would recommend you stop by.

My wife wanted to come here to rekindle childhood memories from coming to this restaurant. It's a family style restaurant, they seem to have the most options for seafood though. They also sell all kinds of books and souvenirs here. It didn't start out great, we had to wait 10 mins to be seated. Not because there were anyone ahead of us but because the only person that apparently can seat you, were busy letting customers that had finished their meal pay for it. We eventually got to a table but it had to be cleaned first. After a while, we were finally able to order our drinks. I had heard good things about their seafood and I ordered the perch sauteed with rife pilaf. On the menu it says fried but they can cook it the way you want it. The perch was incredibly good! It was probably among the best perch I've had. The seasoning was perfect and it was really prepared well. The coleslaw that comes with it was OK but nothing special. It seems like most of the restaurants here in Mackinaw City makes the same style of coleslaw which is a little different from what I've had elsewhere. They also had a small buffet but it didn't look appetizing and it least it looked stale. They definitely have great seafood here, you just have to be ready for a wait unless you go off-peak hours.

Family style restaurant with a salad bar. Stopped in for lunch on Sat. Was promptly seated, with drink and food orders quickly taken. We had very good service. Open face broiled whitefish was tasty. It was served on three half pieces of Texas style toast but the fish fit on slightly more than just one piece of toast. I opted to add the salad bar which has 14 items on it. Standard items- lettuce, toppings, fruit, beets, pasta salad, dressing. One strange item was cold baked beans. The flavor was good but was surprising option- perhaps a Michigan thing? Lunch for 4 was about $50 including tip. Would eat here again.

I don't really know how to rate this place....Part of me wants to give it a 1 star and the other part wants to give it a 3 star, so I will just settle on 2.... After a long 6.25 hour drive, I decided to snag food at this place, more so because it was the only place open and available after 8pm. After being promptly seated and greeted, I was excited to order some hot chocolate on a rather bristly windy day! The nostalgia of marshmallows in warm hot coco reminds me so much of my childhood, until I tasted this hot cocoa. It was hot, super sweet, brown water. Maybe I expected too much...I mean, this place isn't suppose to be known for its hot cocoa, so fair enough. I could make this an overtly long review that seams to "bash" this place, but I'm not interested in doing that at all. I'm thankful that there was a place open to even serve me food. There seemed to be regulars, and the crowdhere was very diverse. The food just didn't do it for me. I ordered the whitefish, w/ fries, and cottage cheese (not my choice per se, but when faces with cole slaw, not so fresh salad, and cottage cheese...I big the lesser evil), I didn't enjoy the fish. It didn't look nearly as delicious or as appetizing as the other Yelp photos suggested. Maybe dining in after 8pm is just a terrible idea. The clam chowder was thick and healthy looking, but the level of SALT could make anyone balloon up and float out of that place....crab cakes were just really bad and this is just coming from someone who really knows crab cakes...so, I'm not sure is my assessment is fair, maybe the vast majority of people like more breading and filler. Great beer battered chicken tenders and awesome BBQ sauce. This place is a diner. It lives up to serving diner style food. I think one needs to adjust their palate for the time of food that is being served. I shouldn't expect a Guy Fieri type of meal. I know this, shame on me. I personally would go back for the nostalgia of "this is the diner I ate at the first time I visited Mackinaw City," but not for the food! $50 dollars lighter and I feel like I've been ripped off a little bit....I think I paid for the attraction of the buffalo on the wall. OR maybe breakfast is the highlight of this place. Either way, visit Audies, support local business, this is a town that stabilizes itself on tourism. Like it or not, the experience is what's worth paying for so smile and eat some fish!

5 stars for breakfast. Huge helpings, very friendly waitress, Sharon was fantastic. Freshly baked homemade bread and jam and big leaf real maple syrup served warm. I replied 'I'm good" on third coffee refill and reply from waitress was funny 'that's what I hear around town'. In Canadian accent. Eh

We had great service there. I tried the elk which was awesome. Very similar to a Steak Diane. Nice atmosphere, too bad the rest of the diners were more casual than they should have been. We ate in the Chippewa room.

Breakfast was wonderful: from the homemade jam, hand shredded hash browns, fresh whitefish. Was the toast even homemade? Breakfast served til 1130am on Sundays. Will definitely be back when thru Mackinaw City again.

  • Cheryl R.

Food is great! Stopped for breakfast and everything is homemade, I think. Jam, pancakes, sausage, everything! Staff was super friendly too. Coffee was the best I've had in the area.

Saturday night. 8:15 ish, high season. No wait to speak of. Seated quickly. Drink order taken quickly. Best Gimlet I've ever had, even though it was made with Beefeaters . Dinner order was taken quickly, and we were accommodated for our special requests without questions. It did take a long time to get our food, and my meat was luke warm, but Lordy, it was good. We ordered a filet, medium rare, spaghetti, and French onion soup. The soup was just delicious, the herbs made all the difference, the fillet was ordered medium rare, and came medium rare. It was not a filet, as I expected, somewhat thinner, but oh so tasty. The spaghetti also had delicious herbs to add to the flavor. Mom had an ice cream, some sort of bear name, that she said was the best ice cream she'd ever had. I give four stars only because it took longer to get our food than I would have thought, and my meat was luke warm. We'll be back

Nice people. Big portions. Good food. I'd given another star, but I had white fish & my wife had shrimp. I had a piece of pie. The bill was 50.00

  • Shane H.

The food was bland. My whitefish sandwich was small and pretty fishy. Overpriced and slow service.

  • Stewart N.

I like whitefish but had never had it for breakfast. The broiled whitefish breakfast with eggs, hash browns, and toast with freezer jam was to die for. Fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My daughter had a cinnamon roll which was much larger than we were expecting and my wife had the vegetarian omelette which she loved. Will definitely come back for the whitefish breakfast.

I wasn't that crazy about Audie's when I had to eat here in 2007 because it was the only place I could find open late and I didn't like it any better this trip. It's almost twice as much as I pay many places yet the food is only half as good. I try to keep my meals reasonable so I'm not gonna buy one of their $15-20 meals, yet ended up out $12 total for a bowl of bean soup, a grilled cheese sandwich that consisted of three slices of bread and a meager amount of cheese, and some fries, plus tax and tip. And it wasn't that great. This town needs a place besides a bar where we folks who arrive in town past 8 can get a decent meal for a decent price.

    (2)
  • David T.

Audie's has good service and decent prices. The salad bar, though small and nothing to write home about, was fresh and in good order. The food was nothing special; not especially good, a bit salty and bland, but not bad either.

  • Russ R.

Ate in the Chippewa Room which was excellent! Terry Sue our server was superb. Strongly suggest the white fish on a plank! Signature salad was awesome. They treated us to a free dessert for our anniversary which we are celebrating this week. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant...check em out!

On vacation in mackinaw city & have eaten at Audie's before and do love the service and variety. We had Parmesan whitefish, lasagna. Perch sandwich, chicken Parmesan, bison burger, & a filet. We all agreed everything was fresh & tasty, portions were large, but prices a little on the high side. Not the best meal in town - but a great alternative to others downtown. Sunset was pretty.

Ate here first night in town after. Laughably bad service. Seated for nearly 10 minutes and had no server greet us; had to flag down another server to help find ours. Large party of 10 came in and were seated and had their drinks before we'd gotten ANY service. Hamburger brought to table with no ketchup or mustard and was cold before was finally able to get server to bring condiments. Extra plate that was requested when ordering never came for the children that were splitting a meal, and my father had to walk to the kitchen to get someone to give us a plate. Food "egghhh" at best. The manager did apologize and comp some of our meal but I would still never eat here again.

Passed through here today. Nice, warm place with good homestyle food. Baked chicken, which I'm not usually into, was phenomenal.

Great, great food. Delicious drinks! The bartender made a fantastic dirty martini! Wonderful service. My husband and I were trying to find a place to have a nice dinner while out on vacation up in Mackinaw City. We found Audie's and very glad we did. We had a really great experience. If you are like us and prefer family owned and looking to get away from the chainy, commissary cooked commercialized restaurant experience then Audie's is for you. Next time we go back up to mackinaw city we will eat at Audie's for sure. Someone else commented this place is a gem, it is just that.

Very disappointing! I had the deep-fried Cod and Chips for dinner. The fish was rubbery and undercooked, and the breaded coating was gummy. The fries were over seasoned. I left most of the dinner on the plate. The waitress seemed surprised when I turned down her offer for a take-out box. When the cashier asked if everything was OK, I refused to give her an answer. I just paid the bill and left. I was on vacation, so complaining to management just wasn't worth my time. I won't be going back, which is sad because I've always enjoyed eating here in the past.

After reading such rave reviews and getting a recommendation from a local, we decided to try this place out for dinner. I was really not impressed :( I had decided to get the buffet because it was featuring beer battered perch and baked chicken and I was in the mood to try the perch anyway. The fish was probably the best battered fish I've ever had, but the rest of the buffet items were disappointing. The chicken had an odd taste, they also had BBQ ribs which I didn't try because they looked unappetizing. They had cheesy potatoes and also some green beans which were both OK. The salad bar that came with the buffet and most other entrees is really good, they have nice options and fresh stuff in there. My husband had a roast beef sandwich which came out really fast so I am guessing they have pre-cooked food in the kitchen. He did not enjoy it at all. I also had a strawberry margarita which was OK but I think they use cheap tequila because I had a headache after lol. I would say go for the fish, but everything else on the menu is lackluster. Just typical diner food here in my opinion.

I am not a fan of national chains but I would rather eat at an IHOP or Big Boy than here, ever again. The place is just dumpy - not charmingly retro or throwback cool, just dumpy/dirty/stinky/what the hell are we doing here and why the hell would we eat here scary. Well, we ate here because the entire town was shut down and I knew everything on the other side of the bridge would be shut down, too. It would be one thing if the food was amazing, like a Triple D find, but it's not. The salad bar - eek! The whitefish sandwich was way too over-fried. Even the fries weren't good. Blech.

We went twice while on vacation. Great breakfast. Good selections & homemade jam. Dinner was comforting. I had the onion soup...not too salty & loved the cheese. The grilled cheese is good too. My husband enjoyed the spaghetti. Perfect dirty martini made by our excellent server, Jordan. See you next year!!!

This place came as a recommendation from a trusted friend. He didn't let down. There are a ton of stuffed animals all over the restaurant. The decor is very 80's, but it works for the place. The food was great. I had the Walleye. Cooked perfectly. Asparagus was perfect. Definitely a spot to hit while in Mackinaw City.

Took my wife & daughters here for dinner. Wife & I had whitefish - very good. Plentiful portions that exceeded our appetites! It was a little confusing when we first arrived as the woman at the front was being overwhelmed by a takeout order, 2 people paying their tabs, & 3 groups wanting to be seated. I asked to be added to the wait list and she just seemed confused by that. Another woman arrived and took over seating and the process improved from there. The wait staff was prompt, friendly, helpful, & attentive throughout our meal. She handled our "to go" dessert request handily - strawberry shortcake, hold the ice cream & whipped cream (we are staying in a hotel). Our bill was brought promptly, but only after ensuring we had all we needed.

A Pleasant Surprise. The reviews here were mixed, so I didn't expect much. But when we drove by on a Saturday night, and there was not a parking spot to be found, we knew we had to give it a try. The service was attentive, the food was solid, and the prices were OK. The food was nothing amazing, but it was good, it was hot, and it was quick. The bread was homemade, as were the desserts. Prices were a bit high, but hey, it's a tourist town, and it was to be expected. I would definitely come back & would recommend it to anyone passing through.

Stay away from here. Ordered the broiled whitefish and mashed potatoes. The whitefish was supposed to be without spices but came out almost Cajun. The mashed potatoes had no butter at all and tasted drier than a popcorn fart. The worst meal I've eaten.

August 2012. Recommended by hotel so I took family of 7 to eat. Pricey and nothing stood out as wow! except tea and lemonade for $2.50 and pay for refills?! Mac and cheese from kraft box. Spaghetti meat sauce weak. $16 and up Fish dinners very expensive. $10 Perch sandwich portions (3 tiny filets) small. I would say Audie's food is average at best and pricey... Bad combination.

  • Lorna S.

I have eaten at Audie's Chippewa Room several times, and have always found it to be excellent. I usually have the stuffed whitefish (yum), and the salads are very tasty. The bananas foster dessert is always entertaining and delicious as well. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. I can't vouch for the family restaurant in the other part of the building as I have never eaten there. We usually go to the Chippewa room for special occasions, and the service is always attentive to that, and very friendly.

I used to eat here with my grandparents growing up. It is just not the same any more. The food was so-so and the service was meh. The salad bar was a disaster (even for salad bars.) Can't really recommend.

Leaving Ann Arbor at 4am, we thought we would drive the coast, find a small Mom and Pop place for breakfast then continue our trip to Mackinaw City. That this was a Sunday Morning never crossed our minds. We found no one open. No one. That is of the small family type places we enjoy to eat at. We decided to just have breakfast in Mackinaw City. Also for awhile we found nothing open, as it was late fall. Finally we found Audies Chippewa Room open. When we got in we found there were locals! Always a good sign! We got our menus and were a little shocked at the prices. So we gave our order to a very pleasant older lady who served us. We waited a not too unusual length of time when our food came out. While far from being dreadful, I was never the less not too impressed. Although the home made jam was outta this world! Had the price been half what we paid, the meal would have been just right. But for what we paid in Mackinaw City in the off season, would have gotten a breakfast 3 times the size in Ypsilanti.

One of the worst meals I have ever had. Steak tasted like warmed over in the microwave. Bad experience for New Years Eve. Expensive.

Good family restaurant with traditional American selection. Excellent fresh whitefish sandwiches. Salad buffet. More could be wished, but no complaints. Nice pictures of bridge construction on the walls.

This place was right next to our hotel and we were hungry so we stopped in. First of all, if you're looking for something healthy and filling, this is NOT the place. I ordered a cup of home-made chili and the salad bar. ALL of the plates at the salad bar were dirty so the waitress took it upon herself to bring me a "clean" plate. It was even worse than the others! It was scratched up and you could feel the scum on it. (And I'm not a prima donna, trust me.) The salad bar was a joke. The chili was just ok. The price for both? $9.00!!! Definitely not worth more than $6.00. My husband ordered The Peninsula (open faced roast beef sandwich with cheese). The wedge fries were good and he says his sandwich was "ok". The only reason I gave this place 3 stars is because the waitress was helpful and nice and the service was super fast. Other than that, the place dirty and just...gross. Level of dank comparable to Denny's in a college town.

I had the Lake Perch and it is great. Service was very good. Kid friendly. The Homemade Maple Pecan Sunday topped with homemade Maple Caramel was phenomenal. This is the best my wife says she has ever had. She has tried just about every caramel out there and this by far was the best ever.

I love good pie and Audie's cherry pie is A+ - neck and neck with Cherry Hut in Beulah, MI. Good pancakes and they offer real maple syrup for an add'l charge. This isn't high class dining but I would recommend trying it.

Audies is a full service restaurant located off I-75 at the south end of the Mackinaw Bridge . They have 2 diffearnt dining rooms the family room and the Chippewa room . Both have great food off of the Chippewa room is a small well stocked bar . One of their signature meals is a Whitefish dinner . They offer alot of specials and have a wonderful salad bar with fresh made baked goods on it .

So the place is nice and homey the wait staff was nice and kept on checking up on us. My big beef is with the food. For what I paid for I should have had a lot better of a meal. I got a bison meat loaf and who I received it it looked like it came from a TV dinner. Not a good start. I then tasted it and it was just, meh. I was very unimpressed with the food and then the bill came and I was reminded about how expensive the entrees were. I should have paid a lot less for the meal I relieved. It feels like I paid for a nice merlot and ended up drinking some two buck Chuck. What a rip off.

Went here yesterday for a family dinner of 9. We haven't had the best experience with restaurants on our vacation but this by far the most excellent service from Vanessa and the food was outstanding. The sautéed shrimp was amazing as well as the whitefish. You have to get dessert as well, they are to die for. If you want amazing service and delicious food...you can't go wrong here.

For a first timer I wasn't disappointed. Food quality wasn't bad but the service is where it lacked. Didn't feel like she was enthusiastic about what she did, nor did I feel like she check in. Overall not a bad place when others in the area are crowded.
